Exercise Title: The single image
Purpose: Train your mind to slow down and create an image that really counts
Method: I’ll be honest, this one is a nightmare! Your challenge is to walk around your chosen location for 20 minutes. During that 20 minutes you are looking for just one image. You now have 10 minutes to compose and take the image. The best way to think about this is that you have been taking images all day and this is the last frame you can take on your roll of film and there are no more in the bag so you want to make it count.
Analyse: Think carefully about the process of walking around, your creative choice of focal length, shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Did your choices really create an image that captured what you wanted to. If you had the option to take another image what would you do differently.
