What a beautiful area Mount Cook is. Just 68 kms from Twizel and a world away from anywhere. This really is a walkers paradise and we certainly made the most of it. In our two weeks here we only had two wet days. Highlights of this area were, obviously the immense scenery, but also spending most of one night watching and photographing the lunar eclipse. The dark skies of this area made for a perfect backdrop to one of the night skies wonders, the blood moon.
We also passed the milestone of our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Mount Cook and had a fantastic day out on the Tasman Glacier Lake followed by lunch at one of the restaurants and finally a great walk out to the Hooker Lake.
